The gradients of Bush, Gran Grae, and Little Kickapoo Creeks decrease significantly on their lower end where wetlands extend from the railroad tracks down to the Wisconsin River. The Kickapoo River comes from Native American words meaning "man who goes here and there." It is also described as the "crookedest river in the world." Whether that's true is open to debate, but it certainly deserves its reputation as one of the most scenic rivers in Wisconsin. Accommodations.

    The survey of Wisconsin was conducted between and by the federal General Land Office. The following three photos show in-river changes at the same location—transect —before and after this summer’s flood. During the initial survey, a downed box elder crossed the stream directly below the transect. In the second photograph (taken directly after the rain stopped), the downed elder has been washed downstream, which has left an open pool and steep banks within view.
